Auto flowering cannabis seeds are not like standard seeds. They will begin to bloom only after a certain period of time, without taking into account the number of hours of light to which they will be entitled.

“Auto” seeds are therefore ideal if you need a constant supply of marijuana. Cultivating this type of seed is not very different from normal Indica and Sativa cannabis varieties, but there are some differences that need to be taken into account.

Here’s how to grow cannabis autoflowering in indoor cultivation.

Lighting time

There is a difference of opinion among growers as to the number of hours of light needed each day. In general, this varies from 16 to 24 hours a day. The average of 18 hours a day has therefore slowly imposed itself as a standard. So, it’s 18/6 from the beginning to the end of the life cycle.

Nutrient

From the 1st to the 13th day, the plants should only be fed with water.

From the 14th day, you can give it a little bit of growth nutrients.

Your plant will flower (during + – a week) between the 14th and the 28th day.

From the 28th day, you can feed your plant with little blooming nutrients for about four weeks.

Stop giving nutrients to plants about a week before harvest.

Some nutrient producers advise to put very high doses of products, but it is generally advisable to put in very reasonably. Never forget that an overdose could kill your plant!

Floor

The soil is one of the most important things to focus on regardless of the type of cannabis seed you use. Usually, “auto” marijuana seeds like aerated soils, which are relatively low in nutrients.

The classic potting soil is not recommended for growing cannabis. It is recommended to buy potting compost or California soil from a “grow-shop” (hydroponics).

Do not forget to opt for a light mix. You can also prepare your own soil mixture by adding three doses of peat moss, three doses of compost, two doses of pre-moistened perlite and a pre-moistened dose of vermiculite.

Size of the pots

A majority of auto-flowering cannabis seeds do not grow in very large plants. Thus, it is not recommended to use very large pots. Choose pots with a capacity of less than 15 liters.

If you opt for a large capacity pot, the plants will develop more roots, and they will also be wider and taller. Obviously, there is a limit. The extra space that “auto-flowering” plants get is most often useless, even if it does not harm the plant in any way.

If you meet the above conditions, growing “auto-flowering” cannabis plants should be child’s play.
