On Tuesday, the legislative assembly at Illinois finally approved the decriminalization of medical cannabis throughout the state. The news is really soothing for all enthusiastic cannabis growers and retailers as they can start to apply for authorization and get the new business started.
However, the state regulated the same decriminalization act last year, which has a validity of 4 years. But alas! Not even a single seed has been sowed yet. Now when the papers have been signed by Joint committee on Administrative rules, the sluggish state program is expected to propel a bit after its call to the interested retailers to apply for permits.
From September, patients can apply for ID cards and as per the state officials close to the program the first medical cannabis stuff will be sold with the commencement of the next year. As per the words of Lou Lang, a Skokie Democrat, the efforts of the Governor’s office is the result of such a worthy decision favorable for the welfare. Lang has also played a key role in sponsoring medical cannabis campaign.
Till now, there is no trace of any figure revealed by the Illinois officials about the expected tax or revenue to generate from twenty one farms supplying products to 60 medical centers in the state.

However, experts say about 10,000 patients are estimated to enroll in Illinois. As per data flashed by Jonathan Caulkins from Mellon University who has been playing a leading role in the legalization process, the state would collect minimum 6 million per year in the form of tax paid by the growers and about $20 million to $30 million sale is expected to happen yearly.
Illinois is crowned as the 23rd state for decriminalizing the wonder weed and it’s one of the fast growing in this area. Recreational marijuana is still illegal in Illinois.
The Illinois legislation presented multiple aliments related to ingestion of medical pot like hepatitis C, HIV, glaucoma, cancer, agitation of Alzheimer’s disease, muscular dystrophy, and many more. The state has decided to go alphabetical for enrollment like last names starting from A to L in September or October, and M to Z in November or December.
Patients will have to pay about $100 as yearly fess for cannabis card and it’s $50 for disabled patients.
Morgan also added that interested patients can approach their nearest centers to know more about the program.
Patients who are already being treated at Veterans hospital will be given first preference.
