Is It Really Itchy? Choose Cannabis
Now that you are sitting comfortably in your room enjoying some of best quality cannabis you’ve ever tasted in your entire life – and I am sure you bought it on this website http://greenhouseseeds.nl/, let’s talk about something a little uncomfortable. No, don’t worry, I am not about to make some crazy political statement. Just answer my question. Do you know that strange feeling, when it seems like your skin is burning… but not exactly burning? It turns red, and it is as if suddenly a colony of ants decided to burst out of your own flesh. Well, I’ve been a little too dramatic. What I am asking is: do you know how it feels when you feel itchy? I am sure everyone does.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “itchy skin is an uncomfortable, irritating sensation that makes you want to scratch. Also known as pruritus (proo-RIE-tus), itchy skin may be the result of a rash or another condition, such as psoriasis or dermatitis. Or itchy skin may be a symptom of a disease, such as liver disease or kidney failure”. In other words, you should take your pruritus lightly.
Plus, itchy skin can be caused by allergic reactions and irritation, drugs, rashes and even pregnancy. A really complicated and, to a certain extent, mysterious condition, wouldn’t you agree?
A few days ago, a group of researchers from the University of Oregon has completed a literature review on the relationship between itchy skin and cannabis, underling the fact that a few studies have already demonstrated cannabinoids can help people dealing with their pruritus.
More specifically, researches have shown that cannabinoid administration can help patients who suffer from pruritus caused by cholestatic liver disease. Also, pain and burning sensation – which usually come when the pruritus is caused by an inflammation – can also be cured with cannabinoids. And, if this wasn’t enough, it has been demonstrated that endocannabinoid-based topical creams can reduce xerosis and uremic pruritus in hemodialysis patients. Not bad for a plant that remains illegal in most of the countries around the globe.
Now, let’s be clear: pruritus remains a symptom you can’t dismiss, especially if it lasts more than a few hours. Go to your doctor, and do not try to cure your itchy skin with some homemade cannabis cream or potion. In the same way, let’s not dismiss these findings: cannabis is truly a very special plant!
