Medical Marijuana Consumption now Legal in Public Spaces in Ontario
Marijuana consumption has been part of the human culture for thousands of years and it is not going to reduce in the coming years as well. Marijuana has been used for medicinal purposes in many cultures including older civilisations since ancient times. In the recent years, medical marijuana has been prescribed for pain relief in a variety of diseases including cancer, HIV-AIDS, and general pain relief. With growing use of medical marijuana, many countries have legalised consumption of medical marijuana in private capacity. It still remains illegal to use cannabis, marijuana, cannabis oil in public spaces even if you are a medical marijuana user. That though is about to change in the state of Ontario as it is about to legalise public smoking of medical marijuana in places where smoking is still illegal.
The things to know
Although medical marijuana consumption in public places is going to be legal, it is still going to be illegal for recreational smokers or any other form of smoking in the public spaces of Ontario including parks, movie theatres, offices and stadiums. There is a fine balance which is being sought for those few who need marijuana consumption for immediate pain relief and those who do not have that need. It is probably going to be legal to smoke in other public spaces like restaurants as well. However, a business owner reserves the right to refuse medical marijuana on their premises. They may ask for a medical marijuana card or any other form of verification should they choose to allow medical marijuana on their premises.
Relief for some
Medical marijuana is a relief for those who need to consume it either by smoking or vaping it from time to time. It brings relief to an incredible amount of pain to many patients. This law tries to make it possible to consume marijuana when needed without disturbing the harmony of the environment. Second hand marijuana smoke can still be dangerous and may pose health hazards and may even increase chances of cancer. Like mentioned before, it is balancing act for those who need their medication without being a hazard to the rest of us. Political opinion has so far been divided on the subject with vastly different statements coming out of political parties. But so far, it is indeed positive news for those who have to take their medicine as prescribed by their doctors.
