How Cannabis Indica differs from Cannabis Sativa

People who are deeply connected with marijuana know the plant very well. They know that cannabis mainly comes in two varieties, Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa. Do you know, what is the difference between these two varieties?

Indica and sativa are both euphoric varieties that are used for the medicinal and recreational purpose. The experienced smokers would pick any one of these based on their personal preference. Each variety has its own flavor and aroma to it.
Sativa

The first difference between Indica and Sativa can be seen in their look. The sativa variety grows tall and has thin leaves. The Indica cannabis plant, on the other hand, grows short and busy. The leaves of Indica are full and broad. Sativa is considered to be a native to Central America, Southeast Asia and Mexico. These plants grow best in sunny and hot outdoors. Usually, these grow up to 12 feet high and can possibly reach 18 feet when grown in fertile and optimum conditions.

Sativa is a great stimulator just like a strong cup of coffee. It is known to energize different cerebral regions and is typically used during the daytime. The sativa lovers say that this variety induces a lot of creative and uplifting energy. In terms of aroma, Sativas are lighter than Indicas.

Sativas are best grown outdoors under a warm climate. The flowering of this plant happens within 12 to 14 weeks after planting it.
Indica

Indica grows with full figured leaves and foliage. These plants can withstand in harsh environments as they are short and stubby. Even though these plants appear to be less green they produce the best resin.

Originally, Indica plants were found in kush mountain region but their ability to withstand cold and turbulent conditions made them popular in Europe and North America. They have a dense resin in the leaves that protect them from the harsh climate.

Indica is way stronger than Sativa. It is like a sleeping pill. Those who suffer from insomnia can have this and get the sedative effect required for a good sleep. It helps to feel sleepy and relaxed. Only downside is that Indica variety has a pungent odor.
Indica can be grown indoors. These grow fast and look beautiful at home. They grow about 3 to 6 feet and flower within 8 to 9 weeks.

Other than these two varieties there are hybrids which are a result of selective grafting between the plants.
