Recently, most researchers are discovering new evidence that suggest that cannabis is advantageous for treating several medical conditions So, in order to obtain the desired results, various scientists have tried to carry out experiments on the basis of trial. These experiments have been made to know more about how cannabis affects the body of an individual.

These tests are being conducted very effectively within many labs and the researchers are expecting the results to be very promising. However, it is still very challenging for many researchers and doctors to comprehend how cannabis will be responding to ailments of different kinds. The only shortcoming of these tests is that until now they have been carried out on animals and not humans.

But recently, the researchers carried out a clinical trial for the first time to discover a cure for Huntington’s disease. This sort of a medical experiment is likely to be a great win for the community of medical cannabis.

Huntington’s disease is a genetic fatal disorder that causes the nerve cells of the brain to gradually break down over a period of time. It usually takes years to advance and progress and mainly deteriorates the mental and physical capabilities of a person. It hinders activities like walking and makes other physical movements extremely difficult. Unfortunately, no cure for this disease has been discovered till now and all the other attempts made to discover a cure have not been very successful. Since Huntington’s causes damage to cortical and striatal neurons, researchers have started looking for neuro-protective drugs as a commencement point to carry out further research.

Researchers have discovered that the endocannabinoid system is intricately associated with the progress of Huntington’s disease. They also found out that CBD is known to positively interact with the endocannabinoid system. Having discovered all these information, researchers have decided to closely inspect this as there are slight chances to come across an effective treatment.

In collaboration and association with GW Pharmaceuticals, the Foundation of Biomedical Investigation at the Ramon Y Cajal University Hospital gave a green signal to the usage of cannabis for the clinical trial on patients suffering from Huntington’s disease.

The clinical trial was conducted using Sativex, which is an extract of cannabis specialized to treat patients with more than one sclerosis. It also demonstrates that cannabinoids are safe to use for Huntington’s disease patients. With all these efforts, most doctors and researchers are optimistic that with prolonged research they will be able to find a cure for Huntington’s disease with cannabis.
