As there is uncertainty regarding the rules and regulations imposed by the administration under Donald Trump pertaining to both recreational as well as medical cannabis laws, the pro-marijuana states have decided to take some action in order to protect the newly setup cannabis industries from a breakdown.

In the state of California, a new legislation has been introduced by the state lawmakers, which blocks the local police along with the sheriff departments from helping any of the federal agencies to carry out investigations pertaining to marijuana. The officials have been refrained from assisting any person or business to be investigated regarding the cannabis laws of the state.

The state of California was 1 of the 8 states that approved and legalized cannabis for recreational purpose. From the year 2016, it was legal to own cannabis in California. But the sales licensing regulation is yet to be completed as the first dispensary of the state is likely to open next year.

Many of the advocates of drug reforms say that all the states that are participating actively in the cannabis industry are facing concerns because they are not sure whether the administration of Trump particularly, Jeff sessions, the Attorney General will be imposing the rules and regulations in favor of or against the cannabis business in the United States both in the medical as well as recreational market.

The state of Colorado, which is again a pro-cannabis state, introduced a bill. According to this bill, the retailers and the pot growers in the state are allowed to reclassify their cannabis as recreational or medical depending upon the change in the enforcement policy or the federal or state law so that their business is not disrupted.

So, if the federal authorities find the pot growers guilty of selling recreational marijuana, they will be given the opportunity to convert their recreational marijuana into medical marijuana so that they can continue to sell it in the market.

In addition to this, the state of Oregon has decided to take initiatives to keep the identification of the recreational cannabis users shielded. This month, the Senate of Oregon approved the proposal that the retailers of cannabis can purge their records that include details like their names, date of birth, driving license number, and other information that can identify them.

With these steps, the states think that they will be able to protect their respective cannabis business; however, the game is in the hands of Trump administration and others are eagerly awaiting the decision.
