According to reports, the legal weed industry is one of the fastest growing businesses in the United Nations. When people were proposed to vote for recreational marijuana, it had a high chance of being passed even in a red state like Arizona.

The lawmakers would allow the adults above the age of 21 to possess an ounce of marijuana and they can grow up to 6 plants in their home. Since 1996, marijuana has been the fastest spreading business in the United States. California was the first place to legalize medical marijuana. Later, 30 states have legalized medical marijuana. 10 jurisdictions have completely legalized marijuana, whereas Arizona was only restricted to medical marijuana.

However, people feel that this time marijuana legalization would definitely succeed due to the following reasons.

• This time, the marijuana proposal has a Republican co-sponsor. Republican legislators support this proposal.

• Approval of this bill is in the hands of the voters. That means the decision is up to the people whether to approve this legalization process or not. So, people of Arizona would definitely approve the recreational marijuana legalization process now.

• This bipartisan proposal would definitely get enough legislative support and well-drafted ballot measure. This bill was drafted by legislative lawyers and staff, who write laws that fit into the scheme in Arizona.

Also, the law failed initially due to licensing issue. This issue can be redrafted and represented with the state legislature giving no inputs on this initiative.

Once the bill is passed, the law can do very little changes due to the voter protection act. In short, it means that the government or legislature has a chance only before the act is passed or else it has to be silent once the act is passed.

On the other hand, to approve marijuana legalization, one needs approval from the federal government. The federal government has a lot more authority when compared to the legislature.

So, one expects that the Arizona Legislature will proceed carefully to avoid conflicts with the federal government.

Only time has to answer if recreational marijuana stands a chance of legalization in Arizona. As of now, legalization faces two hurdles: a Federal government that is trying to reassert its power and a Republic legislature that has historically disfavoured the process of marijuana legalization.

However, after considering the facts from both the ends, it strongly shows that legalization would be done this time without any second thought.
