The cannabis industry in the United States has been thriving like never before. It has become one of the fastest growing industries, which is rapidly growing and adding huge chunks of profits to the economy of the United States.
From the inception of the previous year, various researches and studies had been carried out to obtain the comprehensive details of the pros and cons of marijuana that is used for medical purpose as well as recreational purpose. As an increasing number of people became aware of its advantages and since the industry is showing potential signs of growth, many states started voting for marijuana to be legalized.
This resulted in a large number of states, which legalized the use of medical as well as recreational marijuana and thus intensified its already existing popularity. This rising popularity can be seen particularly amongst the beer drinkers.
Cannabiz Consumer Group performed a research according to which one in every four people in the United States is spending his money on cannabis rather than beer. Around 27 percent of the people agreed that they are buying cannabis over beer and are likely to use more marijuana instead of beer once cannabis is legalized in their respective state.
This extensive research was carried out in a survey that had the participation of 40,000 people from the United States in the year 2016.
The number of people who purchased marijuana legally in the year 2016 was roughly around 24.6 million and according to the results obtained from various studies this number is likelu to go up in the coming times. Various states have legalized cannabis for the purpose of medication and some have approved it for recreational purposes and some states enjoy both the privileges of cannabis.
Under the administration of the former president of the United States, Barrack Obama, the Department of Justice had made the marijuana laws federal enforcement relatively relaxed in the states where the usage of marijuana was legal; however, the administration of the new President, Donald Trump may contradict this trend.
Cannabiz Consumer Group has also said that if the marijuana is legalized in all the states of the United States, then the beer industry is likely to experience a loss of 2 billion dollars in the retail sales and this will be caused when the marijuana business will be taking over just 7 percent of the market by the beer industry.
This lowering of beer sales can already be witnessed in the states of Washington, Oregon, and Colorado as marijuana is already being legalized.
