Athletes usually take protein shakes or energy drinks both prior and after an intense workout to improve their performance. But there is one specific gym in California that is turning all tables. The gym has added a new item to its list of “energy/ performance booster”. Don’t be too surprised when we say it is nothing else but cannabis.
San Francisco-based Power Plant Fitness, which is slated to launch this fall, will encourage its clients to use cannabis. They will sell special pre-workout & post-workout edibles that will get the athletes get their sweat and buzz at the same time.
The founder of this unique gym, Jim McAlpine said the main aim of this gym would be to improve fitness among people via controlled use of edible cannabis. He is famously known for starting stoned running event-‘420 Games’.
When people join Power Plant Fitness, they will be given a ‘cannabis performance assessment test’. This would be conducted to determine how a person responds to exercise while high to determine the optimum amount best suited for his body and the best way to consume in the gym.
The center initially will allow edibles and vaping on site, but as per a report, they plan to have a separate deck for those who wish for a more traditional approach of consumption.
Jim McAlpine further added that ‘Power Plant Fitness’ will eventually introduce its very own assortment of supplements, which would be designed to help both workout sessions and recovery period.
Recreational cannabis use still remains illegal in California. This would mean that the gym members for the time being will need to possess a medical marijuana card so as to reap the benefits of the facility.
The gym will give their members an option to either get their own recreational cannabis or order the facility’s preferred form of edibles, while they are working out at the gym. There would be an efficient delivery service, which would bring the desired edibles to the clients within 15 mins after they have placed their orders.
The San Francisco gym, which describes itself as the globe’s 1st cannabis gym, promotes the usage of drugs for focus, meditation, and pain.
McAlpine wants people to know that his gym is not going to be ‘a stoner gym’; rather it is going to be a gym where fitness would be the top priority. He wants to encourage fitness by making workout fun.
