Canada suffers the illegal marijuana anarchy
It may be hard to believe the reality of the situation in a developed country like Canada. But strange things are known to have occurred where the drugs and the drinks are concerned. In the wake of Canada making recreational cannabis legal according to expectations after some highly placed authorities made people to believe that way, illegal shops have started doing business in anticipation in places like Toronto. Medical cannabis has been made legal, but legally available only through Health Canada representatives alone. It is illegal to buy cannabis elsewhere. It is a touchy situation now since the licensed producers do not want to make enemies and do not want to alienate customers either.
The Toronto Mayor is seen as responsible for closing down the fake outlets for cannabis that came up recently. Canada’s Prime Minister did say that cannabis would become legal across the country.
In a well-organized operation, 45 dispensaries had search warrants issued with the accusation of selling recreational cannabis. Warnings were issued earlier for them to close down. Arrests and shutdowns happened under the ‘Project Claudia’ banner. Toronto Police Chief talked about as many as fifty complaints and was concerned for public health. Tweed, the country’s largest licensed producer, is not happy about such raids in which many suffered, employees as well as customers. Tweed supports recreational marijuana sales to adults of 19 years and older.
Are American kids facing danger from cannabis?
Unlike what people might have expected for a generation, cannabis abuse by teenagers is reducing in present day America! Support for medical and recreational cannabis grows by the day. In a twelve-year investigation of kids aged 12 to 17 using drugs, problem pot use declined by 24% in the face of medical and recreational cannabis facilities. Yet some continue to believe that availability will only increase the use by juveniles as happened in Washington and Colorado. Such people would tax cannabis, yet teach the kids to avoid it, as they claim. In California, the police and prison guards oppose cannabis legalization because they benefit from associated crimes. Pot crimes lead to the arrests of 700,000 Americans every year.
It does appear to be the vicious circle that cannabis certainly has been all these decades with no solution in sight. Yet 2016 is an election year and supporters hope that November will bring some positive decisions since people would respond well to the national issues. Besides, support for cannabis has never been greater! With the American children quite safe from cannabis dangers, it will be time to forge ahead.
