As many as 30 states in the US have legalized medical marijuana in the US. If you are interested in cannabis, you will be happy to know that 9 states have finally legalized recreational marijuana, and experts believe that the number is likely to increase in years to come. In this post, we talk of the 9 states, where cannabis is now legal.

1.  Alaska. You need to be 21 years of age or more to possess cannabis in the state, and yes, you can also grow up to six plants in the house (per household that is). Possessing up to ounce of marijuana is legal.
2. California. Cannabis is legal for adults over 21 years, provided they possess up to 1 ounce. Growing marijuana at home is also allowed, not exceeding six plants for each household.
3. Colorado. Same as Alaska and California. You can grow up to six cannabis plants in the house and must be 21 years of age to possess marijuana, not exceeding one ounce.
4. District of Columbia. Again, no change in stance for District of Columbia. Adults need to be 21 years of age or more, must not possess more than one ounce of cannabis and can grow up to six plants for a household.
5. Maine. Adults in Maine need to be 21 years of age or more to possess cannabis, but the quantity is considerably high for the maximum – 2.5 ounces! However, only three plants per household can be grown.
6. Massachusetts. Cannabis is legal here, as long as you are of 21 years of age or above and possess up to an ounce. It is legal to have six plants per household.
7. Nevada. Same as most states. Adults over the age of 21 can possess marijuana up to one ounce, and it is legal to grow six plants at the maximum per household.
8. Oregon. This state has tweaked the rules a bit. Here, you need to be 21 years of age to possess up to one ounce of cannabis. Per household can stock up to eight ounces, and if you want to grow marijuana at home, the maximum number of plants is four.
9. Vermont. Almost same as other states, where adults over 21 years of age can access marijuana to a maximum of one ounce. The state allows to grow six plants per household.
   Washington has also legalized marijuana over the age of 21, but it is illegal to grow plants.
