Manage a Grow Room Wirelessly From Apple

Apple has provided, promoted and created a vast network of goods and services that are industry topping. From the iPhone 6 Plus, which became Apple’s entry into the Phablet world, to the iMac with it’s new 4k ultra high definition screen, the products are always cutting edge. What might surprise you is some of the other accessories that can be purchased from Apple, and what they can be used for.

The first product is called the Belkin WeMo Switch. It is a highly advanced way to remotely turn off electronics using an iPhone, iPad or iPod. With enough of these dispersed throughout the house, the home network could be nearly entirely disabled to avoid drawing power while the house is empty. One could also use this to turn on and off a water pump in a grow room, or any of the electronics.

Watch Every Step of the Grow

Secondly there is the new iBaby Monitor M2, which is designed to offer sound and video straight to an iPhone, iPad or iPod. Since some people consider their pot plants their babies, this could be used to watch the progress of a grow box. It isn’t necessary, but sometimes it’s nice to check in and make sure that everything is working properly throughout the day.

Another curious Netatmo Urban Weather Station, which is being marketed as a system to monitor air quality in homes, in real time all on the phone. Again this product has potential to be used by growers, who will easily have access to CO2 levels, temperature, humidity in real time, so they can react to conditions accordingly even from a remote location.

Control Everything from a Phone

The final piece to this Apple sponsored automated grow is the Philips Hue tap switch, which is used to control Philips Hue Bulbs. If these bulbs could be replaced with grow lights, a grower could remotely turn the lights on and off in the room, or turn on different combinations of light. During the early stages he might want more hours of blue light to promote vegetative growth, while closer to harvest he might include some infrared light to boost bud production.

It probably was not Apple’s intentions to sell products to grow marijuana with, but if they can make the process a little more environmentally friendly inadvertently, kudos to them. The products are affordable and easy to implement and can be used to grow even the best Green House Seed Co. Seeds.
