Marijuana tourism is certainly going to reach record highs in the 21st century, judging by what happened in The Netherlands. While Portugal has legalized all drugs to get rid of criminal smuggling, several other countries feel the same way. Marijuana is part of religious culture in countries like India. Covertly, many countries allow drugs. Muslim countries stand firmly against all drugs and alcohol.

Is the same high tourism fate going to overtake those four American states of Colorado, Alaska, Washington and Oregon that have already legalized recreational marijuana? Perhaps, in the future, not yet. Some more states would go to the polls this December to decide about recreational marijuana legalization.

The delicate problem has no solutions yet. Conditions differ from state to state. Colorado has plenty of edibles, other canna products and marijuana strains on offer that can be bought legally according to certain conditions. Scenarios differ from state to state. Selling to tourists is yet another complicated problem, legally speaking. Officials are busy studying the situation, and perhaps would find answers restricted to the particular state. Being marijuana friendly certainly has the potential to bring in millions of dollars, as is happening in present day Colorado.

One authority in Visit Seattle speaks of vast potential tourism markets waiting to explode as the trade begins to develop. Yet the barriers are state regulations that restrict free trade and the Federal Schedule I stance. The size of the market is not clear with inadequate research to reveal the real truths. Everything is so new like the situation after the moon landing!

Oregon also finds itself in a similarly perplexing situation. What actions can be taken to develop the new legal marijuana trade is not clear. With elections looming in November, perhaps the entire West Coast may decide to legalize recreational marijuana.

In Alaska too, the study is ongoing by the state tourism association and a convention in October may find answers. The fine points are being worked out like suitable materials about marijuana to display on the website. Though Alaska legalized recreational marijuana, it cannot be carried across states or abroad on ships and planes.

Yet everybody realizes the shape of things to come. While modalities are being worked out, American adults have easier access just like tourists would. Some are deeply concerned about health and abuse problems, yet research is reassuring. Perhaps, some people like politicians find problems where there is none. A great marijuana American tourism high seems to be in the making.
