How Much Would You Be Willing To Pay For That Marijuana Dream?
The mind boggling marijuana success story, of course, is fueled by legal farm growers besides the vast illegal black market that does international business forever in suspense. Prices vary across the world and India must be the cheapest at $0.08 per gram. Compare that with Australia $22 per gram and Japan $68 per gram. The question of quality of pot also arises and maybe the better ones cost higher. The immensity of the profit scale by unscrupulous agents and the drug gangs can very well be imagined. Is it worth it after all to lead a life of violent crime and be imprisoned or executed in the end?
Legal marijuana makes it safe
Particularly because of violent crime, the clamor arose for legalization, but not until cannabis was proved harmless. Well, almost harmless! Marijuana is still a psychotic drug that can be misused though it does not cause death and does not lead to heavier drugs, as proved by researchers and their surveys. Legal weed is costlier, come to think of it while unregulated marijuana that comes from unknown origins sells for far less. There is absolutely plenty of the illegal stuff going around anyway.
The American marijuana price highs
An average of $324 an ounce of about 28 grams is what you would expect to pay while experiencing the American dream. That would work out to $30 a gram approximately. In the four states that decriminalized pot, Colorado and Alaska, Oregon and Washington, prices have naturally reduced to $300 for an ounce. Those are prices for the legal weed.
Higher prices are paid for illegal weed
Black market pot prices being around $350 an ounce, some states take it even higher. Consumers report prices as high as $400 in North Dakota. Illegal weed sells like hot cakes with top notch prices in several other states like Virginia, Wyoming, Iowa and Louisiana, to mention some. Pot smoking could be done frugally in Oregon that reports the lowest prices of $210. Washington and California are cheaper too, and these rates are for the high quality pot!
The future of controlled pot prices
In eleven months, Colorado sold $600 million of both kinds of marijuana. Americans spend about $40 billion on weed each year. The legal market may have been worth $2.5 billion last year. Prices are definitely going down as legalization grows, though no predictions can be made about the pot on the street at international levels.
