Canna-butter is another name for Cannabis-infused butter and it is said to be used for preparing medicated foods. The cannabis plant has a special ingredient called THC. If you are planning to infuse some cannabis in your butter and food, let’s get started with the simple technique.
For a long time, the cannabis plant has to be heated at a low temperature in between 200F to 250F, so you can use either cooker or stove and you need to assure that it does not get over-cooked. If it gets over cooked, there is a chance that it may lose the active cannabinoids. There are two ways of making this – by stove or slow cooker method.
Slow Cooker Method
Ingredients Needed to Make This Preparation:
• 1 cup water (add more if required)
• 1 lb unsalted butter
• 1 or 1 ½ ounce of cannabis flower (You can change it accordingly if you are looking for a higher dose or lighter dose)
Preparation:
Along with one cup of normal water, 1lb of unsalted butter and 1 to 1 1/2 ounces of ground cannabis flower are added to the slow cooker.
Let it simmer on low flame for 8 to 24 hours. Do not forget to keep stirring it as and when required. So, if you are looking to infuse a number of cannabinoids in your final product then simmer the cannabis product for a longer period of time.
The Final Touch for Both the Methods:
-
Once the simmering is completed, shift the entire hot mixture into a safe refrigerator container. Do not forget to strain the plant content from the butter; you can use either a cheese cloth or a strainer for this process. The straining process always squeezes the plant so that you can get all the liquid, which is required.
-
Cover the liquid properly and refrigerate it overnight so that the butter can be hardened. The butter will start leaving all the unrequired water content in it. Discard the water and remove the canna-butter.
-
You need to store it at room temperature so that the final product can be softened. Never use microwave to soften canna- butter.
Now that you know the easy recipe, you are good to start making edibles. Do not end up with large dose all at once. The remaining product can be refrigerated and used upto 2 months.
