In today’s life, everyone faces stress and anxiety at some or the other point of time and most of the adults have tried ancient practices of meditation and yoga to relieve stress and get inner peace. These practices are known to rejuvenate both mind and body and one feels calm and composed.
Those who use marijuana also give the same reasons of starting it in the very first place. They feel that getting high gives them the feeling of relaxation and spiritual awareness. If both yoga and marijuana solve the same purpose of taking people away from day to day stress and provide the inner peace and relaxation what if we combine the two?
Isn’t it possible that if those doing yoga take marijuana too or vice versa then they will be able to reach even deeper levels of self-awareness, enhanced relaxation, and much greater bliss?
Often we hear that doing yogic postures and pranayama cures a person of the physical ailments, especially in cases where modern medicine is not very effective. The same is said about marijuana. It is known to have a very good effect on certain ailments like cancer where modern medicines are not 100% effective. Thus, doesn’t it make sense that we combine the two and see if the combined effect of yoga and marijuana work wonders for those who have very little hope left?
People have already started trying the two together in some states in the US where it is legal to use cannabis. This therapy is called ‘ganja-yoga’ and it is gaining popularity. Those who practice it swear that it expands consciousness, which leads to much deeper levels of inner exploration that is otherwise not possible for everyone by just practising yoga.
People feel content and they are no more a part of the rat race that everyone is. Cannabis helps to break the mental barriers that we create both consciously and unconsciously, helping us to achieve things that we otherwise felt impossible. It no doubt reduces pain and inflammation, helping the person to try asanas that are difficult.
The only word of caution is that if you are going for ganja yoga then it should be done at the centre under the guidance of a guru who has expertise in it. Never try to do it on your own, else you will do more harm than good to yourself.
