Legalizing marijuana makes big money for the state out of potheads!
The cannabis culture has an estimated 250,000,000 members worldwide, most of them in America. Washington charges a 37% excise tax along with a 9% sales tax. The pot business flourishes like no other like in Washington, where marijuana has been legal for some years. According to Washington laws, adults 21 years and older can buy pot to consume privately at home. Recreational pot became legal in 2012 and shops were allowed in 2014. As of now, the state has earned $210 million through taxes while the total revenue has been in the vicinity of $1 billion!
Supplies are ample if you consider the magnitude of cultivation. The state allows licensed producers about 12 million square feet of area for growing the stuff for the sake of the medical and recreational pot needs. Prices are naturally falling from $25 for a gram to $10. Maybe it will reduce further in the bountiful days to come when more and more states legalize marijuana as expected during the presidential election year with several candidates in favor of the legalization policy for better law and order.
More and more cannabis products nowadays!
Chalice Farms is making it good in Oregon! We live no longer in the cannabis brownie days. In Oregon, you would come across root beer, cakes, chocolate truffles and coffee, all laced with cannabis of course. October of 2015 saw Oregon legalizing recreational cannabis flowers or buds, but only medical marijuana patients could have the edibles. Now, the new law allows edibles for recreationists too, and people are looking forward to pizza and ice cream infused with cannabis. Earlier, folks had to travel 10 miles to get the edibles in Washington.
Colombia wisely follows the American footsteps
After a gradual decriminalization of narcotic drugs over the last few years, the South American nation of Colombia made up its mind. Now President Santos has signed the bill that makes medical and scientific marijuana legal after the suspense regarding the true meaning of confusing laws. Colombia thus becomes the fourth South American country to legalize medical marijuana.
AZFMR in Arizona
An organization that supports marijuana legalization in Arizona has stopped its campaign aimed for the 2016 November elections after falling short in the signature campaign. Arizonians for Mindful Regulation could not meet the July 7 deadline for submitting over 150,000 official voter signatures to qualify for November. AZFMR would return to the battle in 2018.
