From 1st October Saturday, marijuana edibles like brownies, candies, and others stuff coming with a diamond shape and T-H-C written on it. It will not only happen on the products, also on the packaging to make everything clear in front of the common public of Denver.
This is happening after the complaint rose on the psychoactive ingredient of marijuana. This requirement is necessitated because it looks like any other non-intoxicating products. This happened the first time in a legal weed state.
This universal symbol of Colorado gives a distinct look of these marijuana products even after removing the packaging. This symbol is designed in such way that parents of school students can identify at a glance that it is marijuana edible without tasting them. So, it couldn’t look as innocent as it is being passed around the high school cafeteria.
To keep the product away from the children, pregnant this stamping rule has been introduced. Also, it should not eat before driving. This comprehensive labeling and packaging rule is very much required which include childproof zippers and lids. According to Jonathan Singer, a democrat, told that I should be clearly recognized the difference between normal brownie and marijuana brownie. He sponsored this law of stamping the marijuana edibles.
To get a clear idea, researchers received some data from the admission of children’s hospital Colorado located just outside the Denver. From that study 2016 indicates that more kids are accidentally got into the accidental pot ingestion in Denver after legalization. From that study, it showed that it increased from 1.2 per 100000 populations 2 years prior to legalization to 2.3 per 100000 populations after 2 years of legalization.
From a survey, it is indicated that the year 2009 to 2015, 81 children treated in the hospital for accidental ingestion of pot. These reports of accidental consumption of pot still were coming and caught the law maker’s attention. The law was passed one year ago but due to difficulties of implementing it was not taking effect. No other legal weed states have reflected this universal symbol concept on marijuana edible products.
It is quite simple to stamp on the candies or baked items but the label requirement is complicated for bulk items like granola, marijuana-infused soda or water soluble powder. The state finally settled the new packaging rules for those near impossible items. For that, soda comes in the single-serve bottle for instance.
