Medical Marijuana Set To Conquer The World
People in the know are aware of the great strides legalized medical marijuana is now taking in several countries. While research continues on a war footing, pharmaceutical companies will soon roll out their pot baseds medications. Just imbibe raw marijuana and you immediately feel the common effects as a tranquilizer and depression antidote. Traditional knowledge has much to say in favour of marijuana cures, a way of life in several Asian countries where it originated. Spiritual highs may relieve some imagined maladies too. Yet the fact remains that allowing medical marijuana only means the abuse that is bound to happen.
Colombia follows America in accepting medical marijuana
Though Colombia has been volatile territory in the drug trade, the Government Is lured by the medical marijuana promise and wishes to allow cultivation of the weed for medicinal research. While the bill is not yet signed into law, the process may be very soon. With an estimated 400,000 patients standing to benefit, there is no reason why it should not be allowed. In Colombia, possession of small quantities of cannabis and even cocaine is allowed for personal consumption. Maybe Colombia will export cannabis in the future. Look forward then to the Colombian Gold!
The Australia story
The demand for legal medical cannabis in Australia has been growing and the voices are beginning to be heard. How did it all begin? Daniel Haslam suffered bowel cancer at 20 and had to tolerate chemotherapy when somebody suggested that he try cannabis that improved appetite and reduced the suffering. Why should so many patients depend upon the black market for marijuana? Though Daniel died, his mother put up a petition with 250,000 signatures. Can you imagine that?
New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland concur
NSW takes the initiative to conduct clinical trials on cannabis. NSW Premier, impressed by the Daniel story, granted $9 million for investigative research into marijuana as medicine. Victoria also plans to experiment with marijuana cultivation and research. Victoria Premier promised before elections that he would take up the matter and still believes it is the right policy since lives are at stake. Victoria also decriminalized medical marijuana recently and now wants to check the efficacy of marijuana use on children.
New York emergency access
NY Governor has often been asked to allow critical cases to use medical marijuana. Four children died of seizures and brain cancer and marijuana would have helped their cases. Now that emergency access will be allowed for critically ill patients from January 2016, let us hope that alleviation of suffering would be more effective.
