A new movie about the truth behind medical marijuana prohibition is set to come out in the middle of the month. Releasing October 17th is The Culture High, with a star studded cast including Joe Rogan, Snoop Dog, Sir Richard Branson, and Wiz Khalifa. The movie is set to be a great success and should help way the minds of many people.

Watching the trailer is a bit of a sublime experience. The tone is tense from the beginning, with theatre ready surround sound and unbelievable clarity. Richard Nixon is shown calling for the war on drugs shortly after soldiers in the Middle East are seen waging war, even though they only needed to exhibit the militarized police in the US who regularly use excessive force in marijuana related crimes.

An Assorted Array of Opinions

The film plans to bring together people from all ends of the marijuana spectrum. Undercover agents will speak on the same film as medical marijuana doctors and celebrities about the war on drugs and the negative effects of marijuana prohibition. It’s an attempt to capture both sides of an argument at this point in time, and grows on The Union: The Business behind Getting High.

Every Vote Counts

The filming is coming at a pivotal time in American voting for the legalization of marijuana. There are 4 state elections happening this year for legalizing marijuana as either medical or recreational. Hopefully the film will be as moving as the trailer and people will vote for the right thing, instead of what they have been told.

Recently a study found that 67% of doctors support medical marijuana, while only 51% of the general population does. This disparity shows that the public is not quite educated enough on the topic and the potential benefits marijuana offers to a vast number of people. Doctors seem excited about the potential uses, whereas the public still seems wary. As a nearly 50 year marijuana activist movement knows all too well, it is just a matter of time and diligence until the policy changes.
