How to Optimize our Indoor?

There are many cannabis cultivators growing their marijuana crops indoors, either in a cupboard or in a room prepared for this purpose. But not always all requirements recommended for best results are met. Every cultivator should ask himself if he’s getting the maximum possible results from his plants and he should also consider if it’s possible to get more quality and quantity from the same.

The answer for this is very simple as it’s always possible to improve. Keep in mind that a cannabis plant cultivated without much care is sure to give bad final results, while plants that are cultivated with some care can offer acceptable final results. The best possible results are obtained from well cultivated marijuana plants, which can be a real treasure.

If you are wondering how to optimize indoor cannabis cultivation for the best results, here’s a step-by-step easy way for everyone to understand. From the novice to the most experienced grower, this guide will be helpful for everyone.

1. Genetics

It may seem kind of monotonous to always hear the same about genetics, but there are many growers who do not know that there are many kinds of marijuana and each offers different results. Some strains are more productive or more branched, while others offer more resin or simply the difference in flowering time could make a huge difference.

It is very important to choose the right variety for indoor growing. Indica or hybrid is a highly recommended variety because these do not grow too much during flowering stage (if they are grown indoors, their height is limited logically). Besides, their flowering cycle is usually about eight or nine weeks, which is a positive aspect for saving electricity.

Experienced growers can try their hands with cultivating sativa varieties, provided they know that the size can be a big problem for indoor growing and flowering cycles are usually much longer than other varieties. Some sativa strains may even take 14 weeks or more to flower as against the average 8-9 weeks required by indica strains.

Indica varieties can grow good sized buds with good amount of resin and potent effects in short flowering cycles. What more could you want as a cannabis cultivator? Its effects are usually relaxing; even if you choose hybrid strains, you can get more active effects.

Some ideal indica varieties that can be grown indoors are Great White Shark, White Widow, El Niño, Big Bang, Afgooey, Money Maker, and Flower Bomb Kush. Some ideal hybrid varieties for indoor cultivation are Church, Cheese, Train Wreck, Moby Dick, and White Lemon.

2. Temperature

If you want to get the best results, you should optimize all indoor cannabis cultivation parameters. Marijuana plants react differently to cold or heat. For instance, indica varieties favor colder climates, while sativa varieties grow well in more temperate or warmer climates. So, it’s crucial to set the minimum and maximum temperature when cultivating these plants indoors.

If a cannabis plant is subjected to excessively low temperatures, it tends to grow very slowly, which in turn affects its production also. In the same way, if the temperature gets too high, optimum results cannot be obtained.

As if that were not enough, swings and undesirable temperature can cause serious problems in plants.

The optimum temperature for indoor cultivation of indica or hybrid varieties is about 26º – 27º Celsius maximum and about 19 – 20 Celsius degrees minimum. The maximum temperature is always set when the focus is on and the minimum is set when off by simple logic. Some people prefer to maintain a stable temperature of about 25° Celsius all through the cultivation, but this is not advisable as a variation in temperature between the light and dark cycles is positive for the plant’s growth.

3. Moisture

The relative humidity inside a closet is far more important than most growers think. A plant with correct levels of moisture in the atmosphere grows much faster and healthier than if humidity levels are inappropriate.

You can control the humidity levels at will- either with an adjustable humidifier inside the closet or a well optimized ventilation system. Be very careful to maintain humidity at appropriate levels as it’s a great tool for the plants; very low or excessively high levels can cause many problems.

During the growth stage, the humidity level should be maintained at around 60% or even 70%. This way, plants are hydrated through their leaves and there’s no need to waste energy. It is amazing to see how fast a plant grows with good lighting, temperature, and humidity.

During the flowering stage, relative humidity should be maintained to prevent mold from forming on the buds of the plants. Humidity should be around 40% as this would be perfect for the cycle.

4. Lighting

In indoor cultivation, plants can be grown using energy-saving lamps, fluorescent or LED lamps. But for the best results, metal halide lamps are ideal for the growth phase and sodium vapor lamp at high pressure for the flowering phase.

It is very important to provide an adequate amount of light for the growing space. If not, the plants will not give good results. For instance, for a closet of one square meter, 400w lamps (or if you have well optimized even 600w) can be used. For a closet four feet by four feet, you’ll need a 600w lamp. In these examples, you can consider Metal Halide (MH) or sodium vapor (HPS).

You must adjust the height of the lamp such that the highest point of the plants never exceeds 27 degrees. Marijuana plants can grow at higher temperatures, but this is the ideal way to get the best outcomes.

5. Air System

It is essential to have a good system of air interaction and air integrated with indoor cultivation as this allows regulating of the temperature and humidity level. Fresh air is vital for good growth of cannabis plants.

There are several types of extractors available in the market. RVK I one of the most trusted names in the market for extractors. Choose one that best suits your needs.

You can also opt to attach a charcoal filter with the extract fan if desired as it can help to prevent odors. Opt for a fan that circulates the air within the cabinet.

6. Nutrient Substrate and Pots

Choose the size of the pot correctly. This can be somewhat confusing, but here’s some practical advice to solve your doubts. Assuming that you will grow on land, which is probably the easiest way to grow (as against coconut, hydro, etc) you can use pots of at least seven liters to obtain good results.

If space permits, you can also opt for a ten liter pot as it’s great for indoor growing.

Choosing a good variety of nutrients is essential for the best results. Plants consume nitrogen for growing up and also a good amount of phosphorus and potassium during the flowering stage. So, it is strongly recommended to use good quality nutrients specific to each stage of the plant (growth or flowering).

[cml_media_alt id='4112']powder feeding grow[/cml_media_alt]

Powder Feeding Nutrients is probably easier to use as it’s an excellent option of high quality fertilizer. Use them as per given instructions for amazing results.

There’s no need to use stimulators and enzymes. Actually, this type of fertilizer is totally complete and so nothing extra is needed. It comes in powder form and so lasts much longer than any other fertilizer. Mix it with an appropriate amount of irrigation water to calibrate the PH and water!

Over-watering or under-watering may not fetch the desired results. So, water to the correct levels.

7. Patience

Lastly, have patience. Do not bother the dark cycle. Avoid moving the plants all day. Let them grow at their own pace. Be patient to reap a lot of high quality buds.

Remain patience during the preparation of irrigation water as well. Mix the fertilizers well, calibrate the PH, let the water replenish for about ten minutes to re-measure the PH, and ensure that everything is correct.
