People, politics and the cannabis syndrome

You have certainly heard of Donald Trump whichever part of the globe you may inhabit, but the same cannot be said about Sheldon Adelson, who endorsed him and Chris Christie, a former NJ Governor, who will lead the Trump transition team. Well, what is wrong with them? Both are opposed to the liberal cannabis policies that the American majority considers appropriate nowadays though they thought differently some years ago. With them becoming allies of Trump, the votes will not come from the large section of people who want cannabis curbs to go.
Adelson opposed medical marijuana in Florida in 2014, and wished to do the same again now. In fact, he made a lot of money with the anti-drug stance during those transitional days when war was waged against what was considered the most pernicious evil. Chris Christie is opposed to the medical marijuana that about 80% of Americans now believe should not be denied to patients on humanitarian grounds for a huge variety of sufferers including epileptics. He delayed the grant of medical marijuana in New Jersey on the grounds that federal law does not allow it.

Trump, Hillary and Bernie

Trump said in 2016 that he favors medical marijuana, though he wished to legalize all drugs in the 1990s like Portugal has now done. Trump did not give details of how the federal-state law differences would be resolved. Trump did say that Colorado ended up with many problems after the pot binges there and that he heard negative reports. Well, smoke comes after a fire all right.
Hillary wishes to put cannabis in the Schedule 2 list instead of the dangerous Schedule 1 where it now belongs. She also supports that states should be given the right to decide on the burning medical marijuana question. Bernie Sanders too supports the deletion of cannabis from the dangerous substances list and leave the legalization problem to the individual states.

Consume cannabis to get rid of alcoholism?

The idea is not new that researchers now claim could be a solution to the enormous problem of alcoholism that afflicts both the impoverished and wealthy nations. The ravages of the bottle, perhaps could be controlled by the peace pipe! Research indicates that cannabis could help the diseased alcoholic brain and control abuse besides augmenting the difficult withdrawal phase. It does appear like jumping from one addiction to the other but hope remains. Besides, if legal, why not switch to cannabis that is certainly less harmful and does not destroy the liver. One study of 350 medical marijuana patients found most of them using cannabis to substitute alcohol and other illegal drugs.
