In spite of four American states making cannabis perfectly legal and 23 medically legal, the sword of the Federal Government yet hangs in America. According to the unchanged Federal stance, all marijuana possession is illegal. If states are loosening up like several countries the world over, why cannot change come at the national level? Comparing the various common addictions now available legally or illegally one comes to the evitable conclusion that marijuana though much maligned is still the least hazardous in terms of life or health.
Alcohol is yet killer number one!
Few will argue in favor of alcohol and its potential to cause fatal vehicle accidents, family disputes, drunken shootings and liver cirrhosis. The binge drinking is all too common among the middle classes and justification remains the tensions at the workplace, the immense competition and psychiatric conditions. If alcohol directly or otherwise causes the multitude of deaths, marijuana is absolutely innocent in comparison and puts you to sleep rather than arouses murderous rage. The only treatment of alcohol could be for cold related issues but marijuana is now being researched to help several serious medical conditions like epilepsy.
Hard drugs are physically addictive that marijuana is not
The bad thing about drugs like heroin is their great addictiveness that makes it impossible to avoid the next shot. In that condition users would be willing to rob and kill for the sake of another high to prop up sagging spirits, a physical reality. Marijuana is prone to abuse and could become habit forming but it is not addictive by any means. Some believe that marijuana brings changes to the brain but that is not confirmed either. Others see marijuana as a cure for depression like the spirituality that Indian mystics practiced for thousands of years.
Authorities are waking up to marijuana benefits
Legality is to be preferred not only for incoming revenue by the billions of dollars but because of the marijuana benefits. God knows what illegalities, crimes and evil are involved in the global business that manufactures and sells meth and cocaine! Comparatively marijuana is a gentle drug that promotes a mystic high and many celebrities have derived creative satisfaction from its use.
Among teenagers in America today, a huge percentage have tried it for the heck of it. Some make it into a habit though and it may become misused and lead to some problems with the law too. For most, marijuana is a cool roller coaster ride through mindscapes that have become a fashion.
