Something Is Happening In Chile
For the many people who fought to make the project come true, the moment in which theories become reality always brings with it an incredible amount of emotions. This is precisely what is happening in Chile, where a few days ago the first medical cannabis crop has begun to be harvested. After six months of cultivation, in fact, the small plants can finally turn into the solution for the many patients who have been suffering and waiting for a very long time. We are talking about hundreds of patients who are afflicted by the terrible pain caused by the side effects of chemotherapy and other treatments.
The greatest news of them all, however, is the fact that the initiative was officially approved by the Chilean government. Using the almost 400 little plants, a group of expert growers and scientists will produce cannabis oil, which will then be distributed for free starting in 2016 to patients who suffer from cancer and other medical conditions that cause chronic pain.
The protagonist of the campaign that brought these incredible results is the Foundation Daya, whose founder is the actress Ana María Gazmuri. Ana thinks that the initiative could potentially give Chile the opportunity to become one of the South American leaders in the cannabis-world, which has already shown its incredible potentialities in states like Colorado, Washington, Uruguay and even Israel.
The cannabis oil treatment will carry on for one year, and it will certainly improve the life of the patients, reducing the terrible nausea and the pain, and giving the gift of appetite back to all the people who are currently going through the horrible journey called chemotherapy. Let’s make one thing clear: all this will not be enjoyed exclusively by those who suffer from cancer. As a matter of fact, one of the first people who experienced the benefits of medical cannabis is called Cecilia Heyder, and she suffers from Lupus. Thanks to the magic of cannabis, she can now give up most of the drugs she used to take, and all the horrible side effects that came with them disappeared. More than anything else, this is a matter of dignity and happiness: a life without pain.
The success of the initiative is pushing the Chilean government to consider a new set of marijuana laws, which would allow its citizens to grow cannabis at home and carry up to 10 grams of pot. People could soon be able to buy quality seeds through online websites like GreenHouseSeeds.nl and then enjoy the benefits of marijuana. What a dream!
