The Freedom Of Marijuana Expression Beckons Worldwide
Though much of the world like the Muslim world and far east countries continue to remain untouched by the blessings of marijuana, Europe and America have proved to be rather liberal. Cambodia is not averse to cannabis, though not legalized. The case of the Netherlands is too well known with Amsterdam becoming an international arena for cannabis enthusiasts. Several other countries are slowly following the lead. It has been rather long that Portugal legalized all kinds of drugs, including heroin and cocaine. Why? Control of crime is thus facilitated. Spain is liberal too.
Uruguay in South America, Canada in North America besides the USA are all happy hunting grounds for the weed enthusiast in search of glorious, creative highs besides the millions of patients who cry out for cannabis cures. In Canada, weed is yet illegal, but attitudes are changing. United Nations and WHO mandates at least in favor of medical marijuana would open up cures for people across the world.
Is a marijuana revolution around the corner?
What might happen in Vermont in America is truly extraordinary. If Vermont succeeds in legalizing cannabis under federal law, people over 21 can buy an ounce of cannabis in 2018. Meanwhile, the Liberal Democrats in UK now back cannabis legislation on the assumption that one billion pounds would be raised and crime rates would be controlled. It does appear that slowly and surely, a long overdue marijuana revolution is set to take over the world.
With Europe and America already stepping into liberal ways in the developed world, supported by science and pharmaceutical industries, perhaps it will not be long for the lesser developed regions to see the light. Medical marijuana legalization should suffice and few opponents would object to the curative properties of cannabis. Those who do not agree with minds clouded by bias and unreasonable prejudice would continue to suffer.
Yet severe cannabis prohibitions exist elsewhere!
Muslim countries remain quite intolerant to cannabis cultures! In Dubai, the penalty for possession could be a prison term of four years. The situation in Japan is similar with the possibility of five years. North Korea is even worse with the death penalty looming for breaking strict cannabis laws.
Being caught with weed in Vietnam would result in a rehab center that means hard labor. Three years in a rehab would also be the result of such an activity in Singapore. The Philippines would impose six months in rehab for smoking cannabis. Beware of local cannabis laws!
