The ganja Red eye effect

We are no more talking about the red eye that your bad camera might deliver in a still picture. This is about the red rimmed eyes that ganja smoking delivers as a side effect making it obvious for analysts to put you as the suspects to the blasphemy of smoking up. It is a general conception of assuming the person with red eyes to be either coming out of chlorinated water or being high on weed. But what really makes the eyes red in case of weed consumption and how do we get rid of this obscurity.

Reasons

Firstly if it lasts for a short time like a few minutes it could be due to irritation cause by smoke in the eye which can be due to excess smoke around in a poorly ventilated space. The real redness which happens from reactions inside the body is again a gift of THC presence in the body. THC dilates the blood vessels and hence makes the blood pressure fall and blood flow rise. As the dilation takes place, the arteries present inside the eye balls which end, open or pass through the rim will expand. These enlarged arteries are responsible for the bloodshot effect giving the devil eyes. However, this effect of expansion actually makes cannabis a suitable medicine for glaucoma which needs the regulation of blood flow through the arteries and capillaries.

But that’s not it. It can also be a result of cannabis allergy which may be present in a small proportion of population. No wonder that it can produce allergic reactions in some bodies as it produces pollen. However, this allergy would be much more than just the eyes turning red like swelling, itchy skin etc.

Factors

Type of cannabis strain is an important factor to determine the effect on the body as the THC concentration will vary from one to the other. The level of hydration can also be vaguely and inversely responsible for giving more or less redness in the eye. Also, the tolerance of smokers to cannabis makes a difference as the frequent smokers develop a resistance to this somewhat in comparison to the new or infrequent ones.

What to do about it?

Many smokers may just not care about it as marijuana helps them acquire “Fuck it! Let them assume whatever” attitude. But some might still be concerned. For the latter few, the way out is to find a bottle of chemical eye drops available in market similar to irritation relief eye drops. Even the artificial tears can be a good cover. The physical cover of sunglasses for some two or three hours is another alternative. Ultimately, the best way is to keep your eyes shut and take a nap. Wake up and see the difference.
