The Ups And Downs Of Marijuana In America
America may be on the biggest marijuana highs but the weird happenings associated with the weed make you think twice. Of course the only factor for cannabis being legal is medical. If epileptics benefit from it, the law has no objection. Probably all the states would gradually get down to making medical marijuana legal. Yet laws are made or unmade very slowly. One thing is sure that legalization is around the corner and big profits wait for investors.
Justice delayed is denied
Louisiana State has a strange case that languishes in prison with a thirteen year sentence for possessing two joints. He applied for clemency that should have been granted based on the present liberal marijuana laws. The denial was based on the grounds that he had not completed ten years of prison. Just imagine the waste of taxpayer money! Possession of small quantities of cannabis in other states may be punished with a fine but no jail sentence. It does not make sense really, the differences in state laws. Oregon would soon allow you to have eight ounces.
The weirdest problem
Many straight folks consider cannabis weird that it certainly partly is. Otherwise, how could it have that intoxicating high? Now the problem is that even though states made it legal, some companies do not allow employees to use it! What happens then? Does it mean that the individual has no right to use it? Everybody knows that Federal Laws in USA still consider pot illegal in spite of the goings on in many states. The tug of war is all too real. How can the state protect those who legally use marijuana, at least for medical if not recreational reasons? The cannabis stigma yet remains unseen but very much there under the surface like a devil in disguise.
Seizures and marijuana
Let names remain untold. This guy in Colorado was dismissed by the employer for cannabis use. What happened? The state allows medical marijuana that he used for seizures as many are now doing across four states. Now the employee challenged the decision in court, a very tricky situation, but strange are the ways of the law. The decision is negative. The court believes that whatever is acceptable to both Federal and State law is permissible. The conclusion is that employees remain at the mercy of employers regarding marijuana use even in states that have now legalized the drug completely.
