Treat OSTEOARTHRITIS with Cannabis
Cannabis is truly a miracle plant. Drugs derived from cannabis can treat many of the present-day diseases. It has been used as a medicinal ingredient since ancient Greek and Roman times. Ancient Chinese scriptures also show many references of this.
It was only after Marijuana was legalized in the U.S., Pharmaceutical companies started testing these ancient claims. Every day new researches and studies show new benefits of Cannabis. Many of modern day diseases can be treated and cured by Cannabis.
Recently a team of researchers from Nottingham University, UK discovered that certain compounds in Cannabis help to relieve pain in Osteoarthritis patients. Another team from Virginia Commonwealth University proved that certain Cannabinoids can stimulate CB2 receptors in rat which in turn, will reduce pain and effects of osteoarthritis.
Usually, Osteoarthritis is classified as pain in Joints, such as knees and elbows. Osteoarthritis is chronic and often very painful disease. Patients are forced to take painkillers, which are not without side effects. Stiff and swollen joints leave the patients paralyzed, without medicines. There are more than 20 Million Patients in the United States alone.
Osteoarthritis is a chronic condition which means it gets worse, day by day. Many people were already using Marijuana to relieve their pain. But like other medicines, this provided temporary effects.
What was the Breakthrough?
Marijuana has been widely prescribed by the doctors worldwide as an analgesic agent. Mainly because it works better than other painkillers, and has no significant side effect. Also, death from an overdose is highly unlikely.
But unlike any pain killers, Marijuana provided temporary benefits. Scientists have discovered a long term solution for Osteoarthritis. With these results osteoarthritis patients are likely to have a higher quality of life.
In clinical trials performed on the mouse, the scientists discovered that patients with Osteoarthritis have lowered CB2 receptors, compared with a normal individual. These reduced receptors are responsible for the pain and damage. Researchers injected CB2 receptors with the help of JWH-133 Injections in patients.
This alone reduced pain causing chemicals and effects. Activating the cannabinoid receptors allowed patients to get rid of inflammation and pain. This method does not have any known side effects. It provides a longer lasting alternative to pain-killers.
After these treatments, patients do not need to continue medication for too long. Temporary medications will provide them protection against inflammation and will reduce the pain. Even without this treatment THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol alone works as a great analgesic agent.
Cannabis is truly gateway of future medicine. We just have to wait till the mystery is uncovered! Meanwhile, check out our other great Articles for more.
