Santa Cruz Mountain Naturals’ marijuana dispensary grabbed the very first place from ‘What’ as cannabis plant during the 2014 High Times Medical Cannabis Cup. One of the medical marijuana strains, Cracker Jack was sold at Aptos dispensary and crowned as ‘Best Sativa’ in Santa Rosa. The strain competed with other 40 varieties to win in the category, according to dispensary operator Colin Disheroon.

Sativa cannabis plants have their roots in equator region in countries such as including Thailand and Colombia. It was not possible to do the same 3 years back when the cultivator had to purchase Cracker Jack to Colin Disheroon. During that time, this sativa was not up to the level, as it lacked smell, size, and density that something people usually look in medical cannabis. Disheroon stated – “It wasn’t even a good enough quality that we wanted to take it.

If you could mix a pine tree with a cheddar slab and a mango, you might have the smell of what Cracker Jack is.”

The strain was rejected by many at that time and cultivators had pointed out how to make this plant better. The farmer revisited 4 times in the meanwhile to prove how much the seed had recovered to impress Disheroon. The operator told when it made its comeback, he could feel how much the density had improved, and smell of the bud was alluring and it also had a better taste. The final piece had a floral, yet sweet smell, he said. This credit goes to the dedication of the grower, he stressed.

There are many better genetics across the globe, but the best is one offered by the grower, who knows exactly what his plants do. If the farmer itself isn’t aware of the full potential of the strain, there is no point in selling or promoting it. Cracker Jack has many advantages and it can’t be considered as a commercial product alone.

Disheroon’s main intention was to promote good marijuana. San Lorenzo Valley grower, who cultivates winning sativa, said that the whole method is quite simple. He said, “I think just the care and then the processing and the way we do it.” Though it’s complicated, it needs one’s attention and meticulous care to get as much as possible from the natural ingredients. He admitted that he never thought his creation would get him an award.

Cracker Jack is a combination of 3 strains- XJ 13, G13 Haze, and Northern Lights.
