As marijuana continues to gain a legal foot hold in the United States, many investors are looking to get in on the action. It is just a matter of time before one of the marijuana stocks shoots sky high, which is why marijuana investment consultant firms are being rewarded record breaking fees by those looking to win big in the industry. It seems nobody stands to lose more than the Alcohol and Tobacco industries, who are both preparing for the worst.

The tobacco industry has it far worse than the Alcohol Industry. Fewer people are smoking every day, and as ad campaigns have reminded us for decades, more and more smokers are dying of cancer. Over the last few decades, information about the negative health consequences caused by smoking a cigarette has spread just like the positive health information about marijuana. The Tobacco industry constantly faces new legislative hurdles and is already moving heavily into the e-cigarette space for a much needed re-branding of this $100,000,000,000 market.

A Pie Made of Alcohol and Tobacco

Alcohol is bigger than tobacco, but faces more real competition from marijuana since the effects are similar. Alcohol and marijuana are truly competing for slices of the same pie, and many believe marijuana might be able to seize slice of that pie. Marijuana has been using alcohol as a counter example in terms of safety, citing the tens of thousands of deaths associated with drunk driving and alcohol overdose every year. Indeed marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol.

The Alcohol industry could partner up with the marijuana industry to help the image however. It is known that alcohol has negative effects on the brain, and that smoking marijuana is known to reverse these effects, so a drink infused with marijuana might be the ultimate drink. The use of vaporizers which is rapidly replacing cigarettes was pioneered by the marijuana industry, so it seems marijuana might be able to shore up the whole in the health arguments against both alcohol and tobacco.

Those other industries should probably take a lesson from Arjan’s book on how to make money in the space, but there is no way they will beat Green House Seed Co. While some fear a corporate takeover of the marijuana industry, the movement has thus far stayed true to the grass roots movement and opened up tens of thousands of opportunities to small business owners in the states where reforms have passed.
