Keira MP Ryan Park is completely in favor of medical cannabis and will support its legalization so that the terminally ill patients could make use of the cannabis, until the necessary regulations are enforced.

As per the private member’s bill, which is to be introduced in the coming month by the Nationals MP Kevin Anderson, terminally ill patients can carry about 15 grams of cannabis legally.

Mr. Park was quite touched by Daniel Haslam’s story, a 24 year old person dealing with terminal bowel cancer, who makes use of cannabis so as to relieve the side effects of the painful and stressful chemotherapy. The parents of Mr. Haslam Lou, former head of north-west’s drug squad NSW and Lucy, a retired nurse want the politicians to legalize the drug.

Mr. Park, just like many other people in the state, is also very sympathetic to the condition of Haslam and the others who are facing terminal illness and are hence going through a tough time. He also stated that he surely wants to come up with ways, be it from the legislation perspective, to suppress their pain/daily suffering.

“As someone who has never used cannabis and certainly one who does not condone the recreational use of this drug, it is important to me that we look at ways to regulate the supply to ensure only those who genuinely need it are accessing it to alleviate pain” he added.

The comments that were made by Anderson, the Member for Tamworth did impart an understanding to Park that the supply regulation was a major issue for which he was looking for advice.

“We want to make sure that it is very much regulated – what we don’t want to see is random farms set up or people in their own backyard growing and cultivating it and it getting into the wrong hands” he further added.

The people have to be government-authorized in order to supply medical cannabis and the other authorities know it very well where the people are getting these drug from. Premier Mike Baird has eventually confirmed that the clinical trials of medicinal cannabis could take place in NSW.

So, the battle for legalization of cannabis needs to be swiftly moving ahead, with plenty of influential people like Ryan supporting the movement. And, the situation seems to be quite similar in UK, and European countries too.
