Marijuana and its Wonderful gifts to Mankind the World Around

Cannabis is hemp whose dry leaves and buds are sometimes smoked or eaten as a component in brownies, cookies and sometimes as tea to enhance mood, to relax and generally have a good time. It is often categorized as a soft drug by many organizations throughout the world and though being illegal in most of the countries, it is legal to use within restrictions for recreational purposes. Its consumption and the amount being sold being bound by law have made these states and countries make money through careful cultivation and sales of marijuana for medicinal and recreational purposes. It also has reduced the illegal trade in marijuana taking it away as a source of financing by criminal elements that use narcotics to fund their other activities.

Legal Status of Cannabis in the world

Cannabis consumption and possession is mostly not legal throughout the world. However the strictness with which these laws are actually practised depends from country to country and in many cases, it varies from province to province even with a country. Many states or provinces within a country have different laws dealing with the legalities of cannabis possession and consumption. In North America and Canada, Cannabis laws have loosened up from the past and have resulted in some US states decriminalising pot consumption for private use though laws remain strict in the rest of the states. South America including Mexico has much easier laws related to consumption and possession of Cannabis. Uruguay is one of the few countries in the American continent to have completely decriminalised pot.
Europe has laws much less strict in nature with Netherlands up in folklore with its Cannabis industry and with its immense research in strains of Cannabis plants. Belgium, Portugal also has laws which do not criminalise cannabis consumption, Spain another country where two plants can be grown for personal consumption. Asia as a tradition has been much more accepting of Marijuana in the past as a part of its society and many religious festivities sees casual consumption of cannabis in various forms, as hashish or “bhang”. Although it will be wrong to interpret that cannabis is legal in most parts of Asia. The laws are observed strictly in many parts of the world and strict punishments are meted out to those found with cannabis trafficking. Laws do change from country to country and vary widely. However as the trend of decriminalisation continues, one hopes to find a little relief for those charged with possession and consumption for personal use.
