The concept of Bad Trip

Must have found yourself in a situation where you interpret the sympathetic advices as erroneous measures, question yourself anxiously, be dubious about happenings, and think of decency and humanity as most unattainable hopeless concepts. One can call it a tense situation or a bad time. But when this situation is processed on the marijuana prone system it gets amplified. The essence of ganja effect lies in experiencing the extreme ends of any sensation; be it smell, movement, food, laughter, understanding, creativity or even skepticism. So this bad situation under the effect of marijuana appropriately converts into a ‘bad trip’.

Why paranoia?

The extreme skepticism sometimes transcends into pessimism and makes a person hyper critical and later cynical. Meaning, when there are times of distress, pain, worry or agony a person high on weed might decide to knock his head on a rock and leave ‘paranoia’ printed on its surface. The reason behind this can be summarized as a simple reaction with the neurons. It’s the prevalent cannabinoid receptor activity in the body when hit by psychoactive content. The cannabinoids usually reduce the anxiety. However, there is a presence of genetic variant of this receptor that acts differently and creates an anti-effect inducing paranoia at times. Some studies also show that this reaction may play a part in schizophrenia too.

Then why don’t you get bad trip every time you smoke up?

One branch of science explains the plain principle of this effect. Albeit, collaborated with physiological and psychological facets, neurological reasons become inappropriate to explain its dynamics. Those who experience paranoia would accept that marijuana doesn’t bring up something new from nowhere. It only brings out pieces that are already present in you.
For an instant, an acrophobic (psychological effect) person might get scared of even a few feet of height, eventually, when high. A skeptic one might doubt that a person who is actually resting his hands at his back is holding a knife or a gun behind and could attack him anytime. But one would reject that same thought in a sober state after thinking over its absurdity for a second, nevertheless under the marijuana influence this ‘second’ gets extended to minute and forth then takes the shape of a fright.
So if your thoughts sometimes frighten you normally even when you aren’t high, it might turn to paranoia when you incidentally smoke up. However, this would not happen repeatedly because anxiety doesn’t cling to your mind all the time. It’s momentarily, hence before you decide to smoke up for good make sure that neurotic moment has passed and your mind is resting in peace. And settle yourself in a good-humored company to be safe from the evil clutches of a ‘bad trip’.
