The signing of the 2018 farm bill by President Donald Trump this month allowed hemp cultivation and transfer of hemp-derived products for commercial purposes across state lines.

The feds have removed all the restrictions on the sale, transport or possession of hemp-derived products. At least those products that are consistent with the law. This happened as a result of Jeff Sessions, no longer remaining the US Attorney General. In other words, the life of CBD or cannabidiol sellers became a lot easier.

People assert that CBD can cure ailments such as anxiety, depression, muscle inflammation, and joint pain. It has become an important source of revenue for the industry in states where marijuana is still illegal. The law enforced by the Trump administration simply means that CBD sellers can actually buy the raw materials and sell their products across states without any fear of getting arrested. President Trump’s manifesto requires an additional $5 million for the US food and drug administration in the next fiscal year to regulate cannabis and its derivatives which include CBD as well.

After the legislation, that federal food and agriculture regulators are required to treat hemp-derived CBD as a dietary supplement, was introduced in the US Congress, did the budget requests come shortly. The proposal was a result of the growing popularity of the product and the FDA’S year-long delay to develop regulations. The $5 million increase in Trump’s budget would help facilitate the FDA’S regulations for products containing CBD while allowing the agency to enforce the law against making unsubstantiated medical claims about their products. The enactment of the Agriculture development act, 2018 or the farm bill, exempted the industrial hemp from the controlled substances act, which resulted in a sudden surge in the business in the CBD market. The farm bill also safeguards the FDA’S command over the regulation of hemp and CBD. Furthermore, the FDA’S issuance, clarifying the regulations on the use of cannabis and cannabis-derived products in food, dietary products, and cosmetics.

Despite, the passing of the farm bill, by the Trump administration, the FDA has kept up its stance to contemplate the selling of the CBD as a dietary supplement, unlawful leading to legal obscruities. While marijuana has both, CBD as well as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), hemp consists of 100 percent of nonpsychoactive CBD.

CONCLUSION

Although this is the first time that we saw avowal of CBD in the budget by the Trump administration, where this could take the economy and the socio-political conditions of the United States is the question.
